Far West Region
History
The Far West Region of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., formerly known as the West Coast Region, was officially established on June 18, 1983, through the vision and leadership of Robert Clark. Its founding chapters, Alpha Chi Chapter and Xi Omega Chapter, helped lay the groundwork for a region rooted in purpose, growth, and service. Guided by the Fraternity’s motto, “Building a Tradition, Not Resting Upon One,” the Far West Region also embraces its own defining principles: Social Service, Professionalism, and Brotherhood.Throughout its history, Far West chapters have made a lasting impact in communities across the region, earning recognition from respected organizations such as the NAACP, UNCF, the Judie Davis Marrow Donor Program, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, among many others. The region’s legacy of leadership has also extended beyond its borders, with Far West brothers playing instrumental roles in establishing chapters nationwide, including Gamma Chi Chapter, Gamma Omicron Chapter, and Eta Zi Chapter, further strengthening the fraternity’s national footprint.
